Tenuta di Angoris is just a little bit older than us, having been founded in 1648. Back then Friuli was part of the Habsburg Empire, precursor to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A fellow called Locatelli Locatelli received the gift of three hundred fields by Emperor Ferdinand III for his services during the Thirty Years War. Tenuta di Angoris became a regular haunt of royalty and aristocracy, and the 17th century villa remains at the heart of today's estate.
Good story, so good wines? Naturally. The estate's heroic founder's name lives on in the Villa Locatelli range, with its fresh flavours, while the Angoris range is richer, more complex and ageworthy.
