This 17th century estate in the Maures hills overlooking Toulon is the proudest and greatest custodian of a pretty special grape: Tibouren. An ancient Mediterranean variety reputedly favoured by Julius Caesar, it was transported over the Alps by Napoleon’s troops and took root in Liguria as Rossese.
Here in Provence it makes thirst-quenching, smoky, sapid pinks, and earthier, red-fruited fine reds. Clos Cibonne’s wines are expertly executed and wrapped up in effortlessly timeless labels that haven't changed since the great Albert Roux's time at the helm in the 1930s.
Their vineyards are on a special peninsula overlooking the Mediterranean, farmed organically and hand harvested.
