From arid deserts to snow and ice, the Okanagan is a 120-mile-long chain of lakes with mind-boggling contrasts in microclimate and terroir. The Okanagan Crush Pad has been leading the field in this incredibly exciting westernmost wine region of Canada since 2011, both as a facility for other winemakers chasing their own dreams, and for making their own natural, organic wines: Haywire and Narrative.
Since their early days making just 168 cases, Christine Coletta and Steve Lornie have been joined by a brilliant team bringing expertise from around the world. Winemaker Matt Dumayne joined in 2013 from New Zealand via Australia, California and Oregon, working closely with Italian consultant Alberto Antonini and Canadian native David Scholefield. Chilean viticulturalist Pedro Parra has masterminded the planting of a very special series of vineyard sites, including digging in excess of 100 analysis pits in the planning and planting of virgin plots in the undiscovered Garnet Valley, now Canada's highest altitude vineyard at 680 metres above sea level and farmed organically and biodynamically.
Theirs is a story by which you can’t help but be inspired, and a ground-breaking range of thrilling wines.
