Wightman & Sons (Môrelig)
Swartland \\ South Africa
Andrew Wightman moved to Môrelig (“morning light”) on the northerly, Swartland extent of the Paardeberg some seven years ago. The farm had always produced grapes for some of the area’s most celebrated winemakers but encouraged by his neighbours, Andrew and latterly his son Brandon began making wine of their own as members of the Swartland Independent movement.
In keeping with the strong sustainability ethos of his vineyards, from the outset Andrew’s wines have been made intuitively and naturally, above all respecting the unique gifts bestowed by some of the finest old vines in the Swartland.
